Our Impact (this year alone…)

  • Rightfully Sewn served over 340 individuals through its various academy programs (including: public classes, fashion-intensives, production-intensives, private training, volunteer/pro-bono events, Seamstress Training Program).

  • The two Seamstress Training Program sessions placed 100% of its students in gainful employment (local employers, Rightfully Sewn, or started their own business).

  • Workforce has grown >82%.

    • 60% have refugee status

    • 75% graduated from the Seamstress Training Program

  • Certified by the City of Kansas City, Missouri for paying Living Wages.

  • Benefits package updated and improved.

  • All part-time employees have been offered and/or accepted full-time positions with Rightfully Sewn.

  • >73% increase in revenue (excluding grants and donations).

  • 300% increase in number of local sewn goods clients served.

  • One internationally-recognized project (Global Covid Memorial - commissioned by the World Health Organization and displayed at the United Nations Leaders Summit).

  • New (larger) building purchased. Capital campaign currently underway to fund the renovation and move.
