INTERMEDIATE SEWING: NIGHTGOWN

Skill level: Intermediate/Advanced

Prerequisite skills: Must have taken a beginner sewing class with us at Rightfully Sewn or have one year prior sewing experience.

In this intermediate class, you will learn how to cut and sew a satin nightgown, on the bias. This will require techniques that advanced sewist are looking to learn along with a refresher on the basics.

Only 4 places!

Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines and Janome and Babylock home sergers.

Students will:

  • Brush up on basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction

  • Receive education on more advanced techniques

  • Learn to sew on slippery fabric (or students' fabric of choice)

  • Learn how to cut & sew on the bias of fabric. 

  • Learn how to create a baby hem by machine.

  • Learn hand basting and hand sewn finishes.

All sewing tools will be provided by Rightfully Sewn Academy and it's donors in order to promote and encourage a sustainable future in the fashion industry. Students are welcome to bring their own sewing kit, if they wish. This class will have a shopping list that will be sent out via email upon class purchase.
